Better All the Time—TAP Adds New Routes, New Services and New Perks for Passengers

For 63 years, TAP has provided passengers with award-winning comfort, quality and care. And now, thanks to a host of exciting partnerships and expansions, Portugal’s premier carrier offers guests more options and enhanced amenities than ever before.
New Destinations—New Options
In recognition of its loyal customers’ business and leisure needs, TAP added several new flights to its schedule. In addition to its daily service from Newark Liberty International Airport to Lisbon, TAP offers four weekly non-stop flights to Porto.
From Lisbon, TAP now offers a seventh weekly flight to Luanda, the Angolan capital, and to Cape Verde as well as daily flights to Sal and four weekly flights to Praia.
A Model Airline
TAP is a proud member of the award-winning Star Alliance, the first and largest airline network, which celebrated its tenth anniversary in May. Since TAP joined the Star Alliance in March 2005, TAP has been praised as a model constituent and recognized as an example for future Alliance members. TAP has seized the Alliance opportunities to strengthen relationships with fellow Star Alliance airlines and better serve customers.
Thanks to TAP’s Star Alliance status, TAP’s passengers now enjoy numerous extra benefits. They can relax in airport lounges at more locations worldwide and take advantage of more opportunities to redeem miles for upgrades in the Star Alliance network.
As a member of Star Alliance, TAP is on the technological forefront, developing interline e-ticketing and electronic passenger documentation validation systems. TAP is also committed to the use of a common technology and information platform and the joint buying and use of shared communications tools. TAP has formed code-share agreements with other Alliance members, including United Airlines and US Airways.
New Partners—New Routes
In June, TAP officially acquired Portugalia Airlines. Named Best Regional Company in Europe for six consecutive years, Portugalia is integral to TAP’s commitment to streamlining operations for the benefit of its passengers. Under the new agreement, TAP and Portugalia will retain their own identities and autonomy but share resources. Portugalia’s small but strong fleet of 16 aircraft will be a welcome addition to TAP’s gleaming fleet of 48 planes. The acquisition will allow TAP to create new routes and more convenient flight times for trips between Portuguese cities and Bilbao, La Coruna, Malaga, Pamplona, Seville, Lyon, Nice, Marseille, Toulouse and Hamburg. In addition, new code-share agreements with EgyptAir now offer two weekly flights from Lisbon to Cairo.
Flying at the Top Gets Better
TAP’s Top Executive Class is even more luxurious, as TAP has concluded the upgrade of the Top Executive Class seating on its Airbus A330 fleet. The new seats, designed by the German company Recaro, use cutting-edge technology and ergonomic design to provide passengers with maximum comfort. And to provide each passenger with a tranquil, personalized environment, the new seats include extra stowage space, a laptop outlet, a privacy screen and a six-position headrest. Each seat features state-of-the-art digital controls that recline the seat into six pre-programmed positions. The controls also memorize passengers’ preferred positions and make additional adjustments to ensure each guest’s utmost satisfaction.
TAP’s Top Executive Class leads the industry in providing high-level service at low business-class fares. Along with the new seats, passengers will continue to enjoy the Top Executive Class perks to which they are accustomed. The innovative menus featuring Portuguese cuisine and paired wines, separate check-in, priority luggage handling, and access to airport lounges are all part of the Top Executive Class experience.
